I just read new stats: 4 million blogs are posted every day. It makes you wonder if there are enough readers to go around. For my part, I'm grateful I have two and a half faithful readers. My highest readership, according to comments received, is nine.

So why write a blog? Well, why write? It's the fascination with the word, and the mystic communication with a reader in a circuit that must be closed before it is effective/satisifying. It's the need to (attempt to) transcend mediocrity. I's a commitment, it's a challenge, it's a promise.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Only four days remaining in August - the end of summer. It's sad but there's a hint of promise in the air. That word again, promise.
