'The Book of my Enemy Has Been Remaindered'

The book of my enemy has been remaindered

And I am pleased.

It wasn't Gore Vidal who said that,  it was Clive James (b. 1939) AO CBE, an Australian author, critic, broadcaster, poet, translator and memoirist, best known for his autobiographical series Unreliable Memoirs. So what did Gore Vidal (1925-2012) say?  He also had it in for his peers. "It is not enough to succeed. Others must fail."  and "Every time a friend succeeds, I die a little."

So I'm home now, and all the fiddles are waiting for me.

Anon, anon.
