what's so happy about May the First?

May Day, my foot.  It's still cold.  I heard the other day that we here in Toronto/Ontario have hit a record of over six months below normal temperature.  That's not a record, that's an affliction. People are not smiling much. We're all too busy hanging on by our fingernails to some semblance of decent behaviour.  And all the while we keep being reminded that we are among the fortunate on this earth, that we have no reason to complain and that it could be much much worse. Okay.

But I don't have to enjoy it.

I may have a little more to say today, if it improves. No promises.
