where did I go?

I’ve been writing and filing blogs, a big one last night and not so self-pitying, and it disappeared. I still don’t know how or where to find missing copy.

After ten days of pain and Tylenol, I had my stitches out and I’ll begin to catch up as soon as I stop hurting.

I have an interesting list for you. Later….

NOW

— from my files: I found this print-out that I kept, dated July, 2009. It’s a iist of 24 things “about to become extinct in America”. They mean the United States of America, but it applies to Canada, too.

  1. The Family Farm. It still exists in rom-coms when the protagonist goes home at Christmas or some other significant date to save it—and find true love. Check Stats Can.

  2. Analog TV. Warning: new stations will only be broadcast in digital. Has anyone seen rabbit ears recently? Not bloody likely.

  3. News Magazines and TV News. I just mourned the demise of community newspapers a few days ago.

  4. Honey Bees. Bees are precious. This is dire. They affect our food supply.

  5. Mumps and Measles. I guess a few ‘vigilant’ mothers are trying to stop vaccines. They mustn’t succeed. You can check Stats Can and do a before-and-after (vaccination) case check.

  6. Drive-in Theatres I was too old to get pregnant at a drive-in. Too late. But I did nurse my first baby at a drive-in and I was grateful for a night out.

  7. Personal Cheques. These days, cash seems to be disappearing, too, like pennies and nickels and dimes, but I must say I love loonies and toonies.

  8. Wild Horses ???? I would welcome personal knowledge and comment.

  9. Hand-Written Letters. I am so old I mourn the passing of elegant, gracious, personal, hand-written letters (and the people who write them).

  10. The Milkman. A dying breed. We had a milkman delivering to our apartment building once a week until last year when he died. His son filled the gap on his day off to help his mother, the widow, but he took a desk job two months ago and now the widow and we are bereft.

  11. Stand-Alone Bowling Alleys. Look for groups and clubs in other venues, like senior citizens’ homes, community centres, hotels, resorts and spas.

  12. OH DEAR! I finished number 23 from a list of 24 when I was cut off by a tired battery. Now, it’s charged, but the copy from 12-to 23 has disappeared. It took a long time to do. And again,I don’t know how to get it back.

Moving on….
