The weather just leapt from a cool spring to June/July (remember?) summer warmth, aka heat. i just changed to summer sheets and duvet today. More washing. Every change of season is marked by an uptick in the work load.
Just think what you could get done if you didn’t have to do all this!
While I am on the subject of laundry, I want to express something i have been thinking all winter as I have become weaker and weaker. I remember actually welcoming Perma-Press and fitted sheets and duvets and duvet covers. I was younger then. I’m so old I can even remember my first fitted sheets. They came with directions on how to fold them (to fit the closet, not the bed). I sort of remember how to do it but I am no longer strong enough to do it alone. I am also no longer tall enough to be able to put away a vase on a top shelf—or books! I do have a library step shelf. That helps but I have to take stuff off it before I can climb. My fear of heights is getting worse all the time. I get dizzy on the first rung of a ladder. I’m doing balance exercises to try to stay upright, even on a level field. I have the strength and skill of a toddler now without the charm and overall cuteness that spur people to help me. I told you: this blog is a realistic guide to getting old.
Hold on. The laundry has to go into the dryers. Anon….
