the day after

Remember that line, “Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life”? What about the day after tomorrow? What then?

This whole month is going to be like the day after until it really is and by then it will be too late. I am going to tackle paper today, which is what I do every day but this is a whole set of different papers.

And then there are interruptions—like right now at 9:15 in the morning—can Matt come and see his dentist at 1:45 today? So I phoned Mat to see if he can make it. (His work schedule is different each week.) He can. So I called the dentist’s office to confirm.

But the dentist has moved and Matt has only gone there with me by cab while he was living with me during the big lockdowns He’s good at TTC but I’ll have to give him directions. I can’t go on the subway. So I invited him for lunch so I can teach him how to get there. So I’ll have to make a good lunch. Avocado toast!

It will be our last avocado. I read an article the other day informing me how very much water it costs to raise avocados, and they are so popular globally that local people can’t afford to eat them. So I won’t. Eat them.

This is a blog? This is my day.
