I have too many things on my agenda and not enough time. I’ll do a month-by- month breakdown of the year that was.
2020
March: My son Mathew arrived to live with me for the duration of Covid19, who knows how long?
April/May/June: A long adjustment period. We began to lose weight on Weight Watchers (my cooking and planning). I began to suffer more and more pain because our apartment pool closed and I could no longer swim daily—hard on my sciatica. i yelled a lot.
July: outdoor pool opened (with restrictions). I began to get better, but troubled by side effects of a horrible drug my doctor prescribed for the pain. Pain worse, vertigo, spasms, etc.
August: Went to a pain(less) doctor who guided me off the drug (tough withdrawal symptoms). Matt and I have lost about 40 pounds each. Cooking up a storm and adding ice cream, cookies, chips etc, indulgences I hadn’t had in YEARS.
September: Still swimming. Lots of medical issues/appointments for the two of us. Spending too much money on food.Prices are up. (I have it delivered.)
October: Very difficult keeping up with what used to be a daily blog. Working on two newsletters: helping out with the ICCT (Icelandic Canadian Club of Toronto) Fallkinn, and I’m the editor of the INLNA (Icelandic NationLeague of North America), published four times a year. Swimming in the indoor pool, daily at 6 a.m.
November: Toronto locked down everything, including fitness centres and swimming pools—including our private pool. I’m staggering now, weak and sore but not paralyzed—yet.
December: Christmas? Yeah, right. John and Lesley are bringing us a small live tree to plant in a pot on our balcony. (Help!) Haven’t had a tree for years. We’ll have to make decorations. Light candles.
Who knows what the New Year will bring?
I have been “working” (in my non-existent spare time) on a new book. Hah.
Happy Whatever.
