I forgot to say that yesterday.
It’s autumn and the weather is behaving like it. (Not to complain, but I am cold.) I finally finished Youval Harari’s book (21 Questions and 21 Answers). Now I’m going to have to re-read Douglas Coupland’s Bitrot again. Just to remind you of the order in which I have read these books that have led me to my conclusion: Bitrot; then Sapiens, by Harari; Enlightenment Now by Stephen Pinker; Deus by Harari; Bitrot again; 21 Questions; Bitrot again.
Coupland’s book seems to me to summarize what the other books are leading to, and he manages to be witty, even funny, entertaining and profound.
“Sometimes”, writes Coupland, “ I miss my pre-internet brain. But I wouldn’t go back.” As if he - or we - could. I will go on but now I need to be recharged - my battery, that is.
