git along li'l bloggie

I’m back. Body still aching but my will is renewed..

I have a long deep planter on the balcony with basil plants begging to be harvested. So I will make pesto today and when I run out of pine nuts I’ll use walnuts. I wish I could get to the Bulk Barn. Pine nuts are expensive. I’ve told you before about one of my favourite meals: pasta, preferably spaghetti or spaghettini , with fresh broccoli thrown in the pot for the last 4 or 5 minute, served with basil pesto (lots of garlic for me), grated Parmesan cheese on top. Num. I eat more broccoli than pasta, so no salad. It’s very good for you.

I’ve been walking a little further every day. Today I will try to get to the park—about a mile round trip. I’ll take my cane and I’ll sit down when I get there before I come home. It is predicted to be warm but not humid. The outdoor pool has been closed all week—faulty fixture, waiting to be replaced. Wouldn’t you know—hottest week of the year so far, .and the outdoor pool is closed. I do not complain. I have enough to do coping with my own personal fixtures (my body) that need to be—not replaced (if only!) —but re[aired or strengthened or something.

I’m going to try to take a picture of my basil plants for you. Don’t hold your breath. I’m not good at techie stuff.

For now you get this.

Stay cool.

nada

That’s what I did today, nada. It was hard at first but I made a decision and I stuck to it. I made a few necessary phone calls, watched a Netflix movie, ate very little (too much effort), and later in the day did some necessary maintenance, aka puttering: garbage, compost, plants, mail. Two naps, a.m. and p.m. two minutes short of half an hour each. My inner clock wakes me before the alarm sounds.

A neighbour in the building invited me for tea in the afternoon and we talked about food and nutrition, exchanging nuggets of information.

I grilled vegetables for dinner: Japanese eggplant, red pepper, red onion, portobello mushroom piled on a thick slice of toasted sourdough bread topped with thin petals of Asiago cheese broiled till melted and crusty.

It’s late now, too late to go to bed early.

Tomorrow I will justify my existence.

I will work

at something.
