putter versus procrastinate versus produce

Well, all three, and sometimes if you’re lucky you hardly know where one leaves off and the other begins because they contribute to each other. Right now I’m doing all three and I’ m tired.

No one has sent me any useful comments for my blog saga. I’m still waiting. Bloggsagga—that’s a nice gooey word.

I’ve begun my Christmas (gift) baking, using an Amish recipe that requjres the starter to develop ,like sourdough, but this one for ten days. So the ten-day puttering is either a quick stir and a good wish or “nothing” —benign but Zip. I always think of my former neighbour, now moved to another city, who gave me the starter. We are related by leaven.

I also started a pasta sauce. I had a lot of fresh but a little tired tomatoes. Yesterday I went to the dentist and bought a rotisserie chicken at a grocery store—a large, daunting place I could not find my way around, so accustomed am I now to delivery. It was nice to have someone else’s cooking and I enjoyed it but now I have more leftovers to contend with. I’ll start a broth tonight. Tomorrow I will make a Chicken-Rice Stir Fry with bok choy et al. And there’ll be some leftover for chicken salad wraps. Beware of spur-of the-moment purchases. There are always consequences.

I’ m still working on my Icelandic newsletter, in English of course. Have to finish it today in time for the formatter to make it look neat and pretty. She’s very good at it. This whole day is one of puttering procrastinating and producing.

You know that rule: Before you do anything you have to do something else.

zoom time again

I was up to number 6 on the cons of ZOOM meetings in ascending order of dislike. Here are the rest:

6. They are very time-consuming. All summer and fall they cut into my baseball watching time.

7. Afternoons are worse: no work, no naps, no reading. I have to listen.

8. There’s homework. I take notes and there’s follow-up—the next day. An evening meeting leaves me tired and ready for bed.

9. Sorry, but it gives me a headache.

10. I really don’t like looking at me.

Next:

TEN THINGS I LIKE ABOUT ZOOM MEETINGS

  1. I don’t have to go out to attend one.

  2. I can wear what I want, within reason. I’ve heard of unfortunate choices people have made, forgetting that all-seeing camera and the “galllery”.

  3. I can move around if I need to: stand, stretch, walk (bathroom).

  4. I can have water or tea, or coffee, or (one) wine if it goes on too long. Call it a Zoomcap

  5. Food, too. Not a meal but a nosh—nuts or chips or cookies—my choice.

  6. I can make comments and jokes no one can hear if I remember to mute

Well, I got to 6 this time before I dried. I am trying to understand me. Why don’t I like ZOOM?
