happy october second

I forgot to say that yesterday.

It’s autumn and the weather is behaving like it. (Not to complain, but I am cold.) I finally finished Youval Harari’s book (21 Questions and 21 Answers). Now I’m going to have to re-read Douglas Coupland’s Bitrot again. Just to remind you of the order in which I have read these books that have led me to my conclusion: Bitrot; then Sapiens, by Harari; Enlightenment Now by Stephen Pinker; Deus by Harari; Bitrot again; 21 Questions; Bitrot again.

Coupland’s book seems to me to summarize what the other books are leading to, and he manages to be witty, even funny, entertaining and profound.

“Sometimes”, writes Coupland, “ I miss my pre-internet brain. But I wouldn’t go back.” As if he - or we - could. I will go on but now I need to be recharged - my battery, that is.

Anon.

to sleep divine

I didn’t sleep well last night, in spite of my new mattress. My mind is still the biggest opponent and sometimes it is difficult to knit up the raveled sleeve of care. I just have a lot of disparate things on my mind.

More to come….

I solved some of my problems today and made a start on another one. I am seriously considering self-publishing since I cannot seem to be able to sell my memoir to a publishing house.I have made a good contact and am considering the angles. I am re-reading my manuscript. It’s finished but needs tweaking now since I finished it two years ago now. I have to bring it up to date and then I’ll write an epilogue. (Not an epitaph!)

Of course, I’m procrastinating - the files. the files! I feel better, though. My granddaughter came over with dear little Mia (Jane),my great granddaughter, and I talked about my business problems. What kind of a miserable great-grandmother am I?? (I did read to her, though, and I made very good sound effects. (Boom. Moo. Cluck. etc.)

Some things you never forget.
