happy birthday

My other son’s birthday.

Like his siblings, and me, we’ve had a fairly tough time. We all changed after my husband’s death. Like most people, I thought we were immortal. Not really immortal. In the midst of a busy happy life I just didn’t think about it.

My children were 12, 14. 16 and 18, each at some sort of crossroads, suddenly facing a fork in the road none of them, nor I, expected . I’m not going into detail by telling you much more than you care to know. We survived, each in our own way.

We’re still here.

More anon.

will power?

—A little bit of will power helped, but I don’t know where it came from.

I played 247 Solitaire for an hour this morning before I went swimming—at 7 a.m. Then I read the Sunday New York Times. Read and puttered—didn’t water the plants, though. It poured rain, a side swipe from Fiona.

I felt better after swimming, pain level reduced. I should have left it at that. But when Matt came to swim before dinner, I went down with him and I did too much in the gym: bicycle, weights, not too long. but too much. And I still had to cook dinner.

Tomorrow will be different.

Ido hope so.
