worse before better

So I missed a day. Better you weren’t there.

My dear son and daughter-in-law came in while I was in Stratford and washed all the shelves and the grease-laden, old, unused things (I bet you’ve got some in your kitchen too). They emptied all the boxes in the living room and put everything away—in the wrong places. So I had food, but no way to cook it because I couldn’t find anything to cook or eat it in or because it was on shelves too high for me to reach and I get dizzy on a step stool. I can’t lift things either. If I had to get something from a lower shelf I had to get on the floor to manage it and then I had trouble getting myself off the floor. I lost four pounds.

I ate better today because I planned something I could cook and made a space for it. I’m not hungry now but I am tired and I ache even more than usual so I’m going to bed.

Tomorrow will be better.

i'm back

Did you miss me?

There is so so much to catch up on that It has to be put in priority.

Laurie Colwin—can’t do her now because my cookbooks were in the kitchen. They’re in a. couple of boxes waiting to be assessed and sorted and (sigh) tossed. I’ll have to find it. I will not toss it It—it’s a keeper.

Stratford was fine. I saw Richard IiI , with Colm Feore, directed by Antonini Cimolino. I will comment on it—soon.

Some thoughts on Stratford, where i used to live (for 7 crucial years)

Back to the boxes and a non-working kitchen. Lots to do there. I’d rather write a blog.

And then there’s the Queen. Di d you watch the funeral?

And the sun is shining. I’m going to go swimming. [I DIDN’T.]

No idea what I’m going to eat with a non-working kitchen. [I MADE A RAW BROCCOLI SLADA AND THAWED 5 SHRIMP TEMPURA.)

I’ll think of something… See? I did but it was hard and slow-going because I had trouble finding things.

That’s enough for today.

Tomorrow will be better. I hope.
